This is just a quick heads up to all of my readers who may, from time to time, find themselves getting a little down or feeling a little sorry for themselves. About a year and a half ago, I was surfing blogs on blogspot.com and I came across a blog called The NieNie Dialogues. Stephanie Nielsen is an amazing and very creatively talented young mom who lives in Utah with her husband, Christian and her four children. Her blogs have always been inspirational and hilarious to me and I have become one of her regular and avid readers/fans. Last year, her and Mr. Nielsen were in a seriously serious plane crash and both of them were burned quite badly (Stephanie sustained burns to over 80% of her body and I believe Christian suffered about 30%). She was off the blog waves for a long time while she was in a coma and then, when she woke, while she spent time in the burn unit. She is finally home and, although every single day is a huge struggle as she learns how to cope with constant pain and a body and face that no longer resemble the beautiful woman she was before her accident, she continues to pull up her sleeves and get ‘er done. That’s not to say she doesn’t have bad days because she does (as we all do, but her bad days put my bad days in a very realistic perspective). She’s inspiring. She’s one tough lady. She brings constant tears of joy and sorrow to my eyes. I believe everyone should hear her story and realize that all of the stock we put into what we have, or what we do or what we want, doesn’t make one lick of difference because, when all is said and done, it can all be taken away in a blink and all we’ll have left is who we are. Stephanie nearly lost everything, but she hasn’t let it take away who she is or rob her of the simple joys in life – like playing with her children, loving her husband and inspiring those around her with her kindness and strength. I’m not even kidding when I say she is one of my heroes.
You can check her blog out here. Please do and please pass on the link to those people you know who might need a little kick in the pants for feeling sorry for themselves.
And here’s a little more inspiration for ya’ll. Juno The Wonderdog. Cute. Period.
I wish you enough.
