This morning I woke up very early with a grumbling tummy and laid there for approximately an hour before I couldn’t wait any longer to eat. Whereupon, I woke Greg from his peaceful slumber and asked him, in my most pathetic voice, to make me some toast and a glass of soy milk. He stumbled, zombie-like from the bed and returned ten minutes later with my snackies -only to discover that I’d fallen back into sleep and Juno had jumped into his spot and was laying beside with his nose pressed up against my belly, with his head cocked sideways. I woke up just then, just as the baby gave a mighty kick and pushed Juno’s nose up. Were he human, the expression on his face might have asked the question, “What the HECK was that?”
We laughed uproariously as Juno jumped up and stood over me staring at my belly with his characteristic head turn. We laughed even harder when he backed up a few steps and laid back down on the far side of the bed and continued to stare at my belly. What a dog we have! Always good for a laugh.
He watched me like a hawk until I was finished my snack and had settled back into bed before giving a mighty sigh, turning around three times (his usual sleep routine) and going back to sleep too.
When I finally woke up again, it was with a smile on my face and a heart warmed by the most lovable, best-behaved, adorable pooch anyone could ever ask for.
