Ah, Michelle! What can I say about her that hasn’t already been said? For those of you who know her, you will already know that she is a beautiful lady, inside and out. Honest. Genuine. She projects love and happiness like Lady Gaga projects weirdness and amazing vocal talent. Even though Michelle and I grew up in the same town years ago, it hasn’t been until recently that we’ve been getting to know each other.
I can’t even express how much I appreciate her words of encouragement and sympathy and empathy about the loss of our daughter and I feel blessed to have her in my life. She has a knack for being a ray of sunshine on my cloudy days.
Last week, I had the chance to meet Michelle’s family – awesometastic. Her husband, Paul, is the strong silent type, but he has a killer smile (when he brings it out) and I can just tell he’s an amazing father. Her son, Michael (who I called Mike the entire time), was like his dad, but I managed to get him to smile much more than the old guy! And then there’s Tiah, Michelle’s daughter. Sweet, funny and an absolute lover of my lens. She made me laugh because her enthusiasm and smiles were endless and she wasn’t shy in front of the camera…AT ALL!
Thanks Michelle – for finding your way into my life after so many years, for getting me started with the whole Roller Derby bug, for letting me into your home to meet your family and, mostly, for always making me feel better on my grief-filled days. I totally appreciate you and I wish you and your family enough…
