She was one of the most relaxed brides I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with – laid back, giggly, radiant – and I couldn’t believe it when the entire day went by and she didn’t lose her cool even once. I honestly kept waiting for the inevitable freak out moment to come, as it always does, when the pressures that have built up during the months leading to this all-important day catch up to the bride. Not Jaymie, though and after awhile, I totally understood why.
All morning, while Jaymie and her girls were getting ready and regaling me with wild stories about their escapades—like the time Jaymie was part of a conga line on top of a bar counter and she fell off and injured her ankle or the story about how her and her Maid of Honour had instantly disliked and judged each other in a very negative way (which I won’t repeat here in my PG rated blog, Megan…) when they had first met, only to discover later that they had a ton in common and were destined to be besties—Roy’s name came up again and again. Each time, his name brought a little smile to her lips and a small shake of her head, like she couldn’t believe the big day was finally here. More than that, though, his name seemed to have a calming effect on her – sweet valium to her ears!
I knew the moment they saw each other, as she walked up the isle toward him, that they were literally lost in each other’s eyes. Even in the shots where Jaymie’s dad is giving his daughter over into Roy’s safekeeping, Roy never takes his eyes from his bride and his look says everything – exactly what she means to him – everything.
Their day was replete with an abundance of hilarity with just the perfect amount of heartfelt emotion and underlying love. In a word, it was everything a wedding day should be.
Congratulations, Jaymie and Roy and thank you so much for allowing Ian and I to share in your special day.
I also want to give a huge shout out to Jessica from Chatters for giving all of the ladies amazeballs hair and Lasha from FX Hair and Day Spa (firstname.lastname@example.org) for enhancing their already considerable beauty with her makeup awesomesauce.
I also want to give super props to Brad from Rhythm & I Do’s for his stellar DJ abilities and excellent music selections! Seriously, hire this guy – even if you’re not getting married and you just need someone to play music at your backyard BBQ – you won’t regret it. He’s THAT good!
I’ll leave off with one of my favourite blessings for a newly married couple:
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place
To enter into the days of your togetherness
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.
And a few pics from the big day, of course!
Happy Saturday, my friends. I wish you all enough…
Relaxed, giggly, radiant.
