In Grade 2, she came down with the Chicken Pox and he was so worried that she was going to die that he wouldn’t go to sleep. His parents had a hard time convincing him that she would be okay.
His mom said that he looked at her the same way when he was eight years old that he looks at her now.
In Grade 10, he came home and said, “Mom, guess who I’m going out with?” and she replied, “Kara, of course!”
That’s Kara & Kyle. Together ever since, supporting each other through thick and thin; believing in each other; loving each other. I asked many of their friends and family what they loved most about these two and they all said the same thing – genuinely good people who truly love and support each other (I’m paraphrasing, of course, but that was the gist of it).
Their wedding wasn’t a huge or lavish production. It wasn’t spectacular in the details of the décor or the outfits or the show compared to some of the weddings I’ve shot, but it was, hands down, one of the most amazeballs weddings I’ve ever had the privilege of shooting. Why?
Love, of course.
Not just the love that Kara & Kyle share – a love which is so palpable that we could have reached out to touch it – but also the love that everyone there felt for Kara & Kyle. The speeches, aside from being hilarious, also contained an element of heartfelt respect and admiration that touched my heart and made me tear up more than once. As I listened to everyone congratulate them and give them props for being such amazingly caring, giving people, I couldn’t help feeling as though I had been given a free ticket to a one night only show of Awesomesauce – guaranteed to pick up the spirits and remind a gal that there are still many fantastic, love worthy folks out there in the world.
As if the day wasn’t crazy good already, the cake topper came when they agreed to my suggestion to play in the water park. I LOOOOOOOVVVVE it when my couples have a sense of adventure and aren’t afraid to get a little dirty or do something unusual. The water park pics are some of my all time faves!
Kara and Kyle, THANK YOU! Thank you for choosing me to shoot your wedding. Thank you for being so relaxed and enjoying your day so much and enjoying each other even more. Thank you for being such good, generous and genuine people and touching so many hearts around you with all that you are.
I wish you both an eternity of happiness, positive outcomes, growth, learning and, most of all, love.
